Hundreds of Lander University students turned out on Wednesday, Sept. 8, to take part in the annual CommUniversity event that showcases what the Greenwood area offers to interest them.
Jeffrey Constant, director of Student Activities, said, "CommUniversity was a tremendous success. We had over 100 exhibitors who represented over 70 local businesses and agencies, and more than 30 student organizations."
For two hours, students strolled through the Johnston Commons, located between Lander's Grier Student Center and the Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center, where exhibitors were set up at tables. In addition to handing out information, exhibitors provided students with a variety of goodies, including pizza, pens and pencils, candy and soft drinks.
Constant said, "This is a win-win program. The community is invited to campus to demonstrate to our students what products and services they offer, and the students are able to get better acquainted with the Greenwood area."
CommUniversity is part of a weeklong series of events at Lander to welcome students to campus for the fall semester.
