The Lander University Minorities On the Move Gospel Choir will have its annual Spiritfest Concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, in Lander's Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center.
The choir, which has about 35 members, will perform a variety of gospel music, ranging from traditional to contemporary and praise and worship. Accompanying the choir will be the group Hy_Deth, which includes Lander students. The Charleston Southern University One Accord Choir and two other choir groups are also slated to appear.
"These young performers have a wealth of energy and excitement," said Minorities On the Move choir director Louise Robinson. "They all use their talents in a positive way, and they are role models for the youth in our area."
In addition to Greenwood, the Minorities On the Move Gospel Choir has performed this year in Spartanburg, Laurens and Charleston, and the group has completed service projects in the Greenwood community to assist with the local food bank.
The Spiritfest Concert is free and open to the public, and donations will be accepted to assist the choir in funding a Minorities On the Move scholarship at Lander.
"We hope to see many come out to enjoy the show and support these young people because they are making a positive impact on this community," Robinson said.
