"Ethel's Daughter," a hollow, hand-formed, welded steel sculpture by Lander University assistant professor of art Doug McAbee, won an Honorable Mention award last month at the 6th Annual National Outdoor Sculpture Competition at North Charleston's Riverfront Park. "This could be one of the most impressive awards my work has won so far," McAbee said. "The Best in Show award last year (for his sculpture "The One With A Hole In It") was great, but that was for a regional show. To win an award in a national competition is really great." "Ethel's Daughter" and the 13 other sculptures selected for exhibition will remain on display through March 2012.
