The Lander University Alumni Association recently held its first-ever Lander Lily Luncheon, a fundraising event benefiting scholarships at the university.
About 30 Lander alumnae and guests attended the gathering at Cambridge Hall on December 11, enjoying a catered lunch and special fashion demonstration by Sandra Hughes, of image, who modeled several methods for wearing and tying scarves. Attendees also had the opportunity to view, wear and purchase a variety of fashionable scarves in many colors, fabrics and styles.
Proceeds from the event's ticket sales, as well as a portion of the sales from the scarves, went to scholarships at Lander, said Myra Greene, director of Alumni Affairs.
"This was a wonderful opportunity for our alumnae to find a unique gift that would also have a positive impact on their alma mater and its students," said Greene. "We thank the many alumnae and guests who made this event a huge success, and we look forward to doing something similar again next year."
