Lander University Hosts 'A MARVEL-ous Film Festival'

Craig TitleyGet an inside look at what it takes to make it in the film and television industries ... and maybe a look into the minds of your favorite Marvel superheroes.

Coming April 11, the Sixth Annual Lander University Film Festival offers an unprecedented opportunity for local students and interested community members to learn from "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." writer/producer Craig Titley.

Titley's credits also include episodes of George Lucas's animated "Star Wars" television series, the live-action "Scooby-Doo" movie, "Cheaper by the Dozen" starring Steve Martin, and the blockbuster "Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief." Titley will be a featured guest for the festival, which also includes a popular Short Film Competition with three divisions: high school, college and open. The competition includes lines written by Marvel writers specifically for inclusion in the short films.

"The lines to be used for the Short Film Festival are exceptional," said Paul Crutcher, Film Festival co-director. "Craig and fellow scriptwriters did this for us for the first time last year, and it really elevated the competition to a new level. This year's lines are sure to inspire some creative short films."

This year's lines are all from Marvel writers including: Titley, also a writer for "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," "The Cape," "Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" and "Cheaper by the Dozen"; Rafe Judkins, writer for "Hemlock Grove," "Chuck" and "My Own Worst Enemy"; Lauren LeFranc, writer for "Hemlock Grove," "Chuck" and "My Own Worst Enemy"; DJ Doyle, whose first show is "Marvel's Agents of Shield"; Jeffrey Bell, writer for "Spartacus," "Alias," "Angel" and "X-Files"; Paul Zbyszewski, writer for "Hawaii Five-O," "Lost" and "Daybreak"; Monica Breen, writer for "Fringe," "Revolution," "Brothers and Sister," "Lost," "Alias" and "Charmed"; and Drew Z. Greenberg, writer for "Arrow," "Warehouse 13," "Dexter," "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," "The O.C.," "Smallville," "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Firefly."
