The public is invited to attend a free concert by Lander University's Chamber Strings on Friday, Dec. 4.
The performance begins at 8 p.m. in the Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center Auditorium.
Chamber Strings is directed by Pawel Kozak, adjunct violin and viola instructor at Lander, who is assisted by Amy Blackwood, staff accompanist at Lander, who also performs as one of two principal violinists.
Program selections include "Jubilant Overture," by American composer Joshua Reznicow; "Excerpt from Symphony No. 25," by Austrian composer Wolfgang Mozart; "Blue Rhythmico," by American composer Kirt Mosier; "Capriol Suite for String Orchestra," by British composer Peter Warlock; "Russian Sailor's Dance," by Russian composer Reinhold Gliere; and the traditional tune, "American Fiddle Triptych."
Two holiday selections, "Themes from 'The Nutcracker,'" by Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky and the seasonal favorite, "A Charlie Brown Christmas," are also in the mix.
