Columbia attorney Angela G. Strickland, a partner with Bowman and Brooke LLP, has been elected by the South Carolina General Assembly to serve a four-year term with the Lander University Board of Trustees.
The election took place Wednesday, April 27, in Columbia. Strickland, a 2002 Lander graduate, will represent the 2nd Congressional District - Seat 2. She will replace longtime Lander trustee and current vice chair George R. Starnes, who will retire from the board when his term expires June 30 of this year.
Strickland practices in the areas of product liability and personal injury defense, with a focus on the defense of automotive and other products, both consumer and industrial. She also maintains a practice representing clients in commercial, business litigation and toxic tort matters. She is a member of the American Bar Association, South Carolina Bar Association, South Carolina Defense Trial Attorney Association, Richland County Bar Association and South Carolina Women Lawyers Association.
In 2013, Strickland received Lander University's Young Alumna of the Year Award. She is active in the Alumni Association and has served on the university's Alumni Association Board of Directors and Young Alumni Council.
Strickland's term will begin July 1, 2016, and run through June 30, 2020.
