"Consider the Moment" is the title of a musical production that will be presented by Lander University's Department of Music, and performed by the University and Old Main Singers, on Thursday, April 14.
The program will feature selections by such composers as Franz Joseph Haydn, Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Lotti, Charles Villers Stanford and more.
Associate professor of music Dr. Charles Neufeld will be the conductor. In explaining the theme of the concert, he said "The music was chosen in an attempt to free each listener's imagination, to mark important events in the history of humanity, and lead willing listeners toward encounters with the art of music they may not otherwise consider."
Neufeld has 30 years' experience leading vocal groups. A solo performer with several tenor oratorios to his credit, he has also appeared and recorded professionally with a number of choirs.
The University and Old Main Singers combine the vocal talents of more than 40 students. Emeritus professor of music Dr. Tony Lenti and associate professor of music Dr. Robert Kelley, both pianists, will also be featured in the performance along with Amy Blackwood, Lander's lecturer of music and staff accompanist.
The concert, in Lander's Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center will begin at 8 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
