Dr. Richard E. Cosentino will be inaugurated as the 12th president of Lander University on Monday, March 21. The inauguration will be held in the Finis Horne Arena on Lander's campus starting at 4 p.m., and the event is open to the public.
Tickets are not required, and guests are encouraged to arrive early. The doors to the arena will open at 3 p.m. and close at 3:50 p.m. Late arrivals will be directed to the Abney Cultural Center Auditorium for closed-circuit viewing of the ceremony.
The inauguration will feature musical selections from Lander's Wind Ensemble and the Old Main Singers. Scheduled guest speakers include S.C. Lieutenant Governor Henry McMaster; S.C. Superintendent of Education and Lander alumna Molly Spearman; University of North Alabama President Kenneth Kitts; and Francis Marion University President Luther F. Carter.
Cosentino began his tenure as president of Lander on July 1, 2015. He has more than 25 years of experience in higher education as a senior administrative and financial executive, and a background in fundraising, enrollment management and government relations.
He came to Lander from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, where he was the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration. He was responsible for strategic management and leadership in over a dozen areas, including budget and financial planning, information technology, human resources, risk management, procurement and facilities management.
