More than 200 graduates are expected to cross the stage and receive their degrees on Dec. 14, 2016, during Lander University's fall commencement. The ceremony for the Class of 2016 will begin at 11 a.m. in Finis Horne Arena.
World rodeo champion and motivational speaker Amberley Snyder will deliver the keynote address.
Paralyzed from the waist down since 2010 from an automobile accident, the 25-year-old Snyder uses her struggle as a unique opportunity to inspire others.
Harnessing a fan base of 200,000 on Facebook, she shares her story of overcoming daily obstacles in a video series called "Wheelchair Wednesdays."
Snyder continues to compete in rodeos across the western U.S., and to motivate thousands with her personal story of turning tragedy into triumph.
Families and guests are encouraged to arrive early for the commencement to allow time for security checks. Backpacks and bookbags will not be allowed into the arena, and all other bags are subject to search by Lander University police. Doors to Finis Horne Arena will close 15 minutes before the ceremony begins.
Guests must present a ticket to enter the arena. Those without tickets and late arrivers may watch the ceremony in the Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center auditorium on closed-circuit TV.
