Cooler temperatures with a hint of color in the leaves makes the perfect landscape for autumn festivals. For many students at Lander University, the change of season holds the anticipation of spending time with their families in Bearcat Country.
Family Day, a traditional autumn festival for Lander students, faculty, staff and their families, takes place on Saturday, Oct. 22. Festivities begin at 11 a.m. on Lander's front lawn with live music, carnival foods and activities for all ages, including giant inflatables, face-painting, pumpkin decorating, corn hole toss competitions and more.
Guests can purchase a picnic dinner on the lawn from 5 - 7:30 p.m., while enjoying live music by D and Chi' performing a variety of crowd pleasing tunes. An evening concert with fireworks begins at 7:15 p.m. with pop-rock quartet, The Well Reds. Family Day wraps up with a mystifying performance by mentalist Chris Carter at 9 p.m. in the Abney Cultural Center Auditorium.
