Lander University's Department of Music will kick off the 2016-2017 performing arts season on Tuesday, Sept. 27 with an innovative performance by Duo Astralis. The evening performance begins at 8 p.m. in the Barksdale Recital Hall, room CC-250 of the Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center.
The duo, comprised of flutist Angela Massey and pianist Vahan Sargsyan, focuses on the development of art through new compositions featuring unique programs centered on themes found in nature or music. The dynamic team has received much acclaim from performances across the country.
Their debut album, The Elements, includes works related to the classical elements of earth, water, wind and fire and has been described as "beautiful and enchanting" by a former flutist of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra.
Admission is free and open to the public, but seating is limited in the recital hall. Please arrive early to ensure a seat. This event is FALS approved for Lander students.
