The public is invited to attend the 2nd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Unity and Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, Jan. 19, at Lander University.
The event, sponsored by Lander's Division of Student Affairs, will begin with breakfast from 7:15-8:15 a.m. in the Grier Student Center Dining Hall. Menu items include grits, eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits, fruit, yogurt, cereal, pastries and made-to-order omelets. The cost is $5.
The program will continue in the Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center Auditorium, with an address by featured speaker Dr. Darrell Johnson, superintendent of Greenwood School District 50. Johnson will speak on the topic of "Unity in Society."
Greenwood's Martin Luther King Jr. Community Choir will provide music, as it did last year.
"We are excited to keep an event like this going that brings together the Lander University family and the local community," said Lander Director of Student Activities and Engagement Mike Rapay.
