Students, faculty and staff gathered to witness the grand opening of the new and improved Bearcat Lounge on Monday, August 20.
Providing space for both study and recreation, the new lounge includes a pool table, TV areas, study tables, a kitchenette and a performance stage.
Lander junior Jacob Mitchell provided music for the occasion as students mingled in the new space. Lander President Cosentino, new Vice President for Student Affairs Boyd Yarbrough and other members of the cabinet were also present to meet with students on what was their first day of classes.
"We're thrilled to open this new space for our students," said Yarbrough. "Our president and first lady were instrumental in gathering student input for its beautiful design. As we begin a new academic term, the grand opening of the Bearcat Lounge gives us a chance to meet with our student body as we continue to build a vibrant student-centered campus. We look forward to students filling Bearcat Lounge and making it their home."
