Lander University lecturer of media Paul Crutcher was inducted into the Distinguished Alumni Society at Lake Land College during the school's homecoming festivities on Saturday, September 29.
According to Lake Land, "the Distinguished Alumni Society recognizes alumni who have utilized the Lake Land experience to make an imprint on their profession or community."
Crutcher serves as the general manager for XLR, Lander's radio station, founded by Crutcher in 2009. In this role, he works with hundreds of students each year. Many of his past students now work at radio stations across the country, including Radio Disney and iHeartCountry.
"I cannot overstate the importance of the hands-on experience I received from Lake Land College," Crutcher said. "Their broadcasting program has served as a model that I've applied to our program here at Lander."
In addition to his education at Lake Land College, Crutcher also holds a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications from Thomas Edison State University and recently received his master's degree in education from Lander University.
Crutcher is also active in the Greenwood community; he is a weekly columnist for the Index-Journal and hosts a nightly radio show, "The Night Shift with Paul Crutcher," which can be heard on Sunny 103.5 FM.
