The community is invited to hear from Lander University students who attended the National Education for Women (NEW) Leadership conference on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 3:30 p.m. in room 300 of the Carnell Learning Center at Lander.
Featured speakers include Ms. Courtney Cannon, a political science/public administration major; Ms. Kaitlynn Strahl, a criminology and sociology major; and Ms. Kathryn Wypasek, a criminology major. These students will share their personal experiences from the May 2018 conference, held at Winthrop University, and how this experience has prepared them for future civic engagement.
The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Lucas McMillan, dean of the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences at Lander. The event is free and open to the public, and is part of the "Achieving the Promise: Democracy and the Informed Citizen" series, which is made possible by a grant through South Carolina Humanities. The mission of South Carolina Humanities is to enrich the cultural and intellectual lives of all South Carolinians.
