Lander University Announces Winners of Student Academic Symposium

Lander University recently wrapped up its 2019 Student Academic Symposium, featuring research presentations from Lander's undergraduate students coming from a broad array of academic disciplines. Over 70 students participated in this year's symposium.
Hosted by Lander University's Honors College, the symposium gives student researchers the opportunity to showcase original research projects in a professional setting, while also practicing communication and presentation skills. Student presentations covered a wide variety of topics, ranging from language to music and from marketing to videography.
Winners of the 2019 Student Academic Symposium:
Fergus O'Rourke, of Dublin, Ireland, for his presentation, "Different Ball Game: The Changed and Changing Face of the Print Media."
Hongyun Ding, of Shanghai, China, for her presentation, "A Cross-Cultural Comparison of Motivation in Second Language Learning."
Haley Histon, of Greenville, for her presentation, "Overcoming Mental Health Stigmas in Future Business Professionals."
Jesse Monroe Wheeler, of North Augusta, for his presentation, "Developmental Sequences and Injury among Youth Athletes."
Mekensie Therrien, of Gray Court, for her presentation, "Stigmas that Prevent Seeking Care."
Grace Flanders, of North Augusta, for her presentation, "Synthesizing Efficacy and Knowledge Gap of Equine Therapy and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder for War Combat Veterans."
