With enrollment continuing to climb, Lander University has announced two updates being made to the university's facilities.
Lander is partnering with Campus Dining Services and the corporate offices of Starbucks to expand the Starbucks store located in Jackson Library. Once completed, the renovation will roughly double the size of the store, adding another espresso machine as well as a second register, storage and prep space, and more customer seating. This project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2020, just in time for the return of students for the 2020/21 academic year.
Additionally, the Delta Electronics store on Montague Avenue was recently demolished to allow for parking expansion at the athletic complex. This will give the university a designated parking area for opposing team buses, and free up space for cars to park in the main lot of the complex.
Lander identified continued enrollment growth as the reason behind these recent upgrades to their facilities. Dr. Stacie Bowie, vice president for finance and administration at Lander, noted that the university anticipates other expansions of dining options in the near future. "This is just one of the upcoming changes to campus dining options," said Bowie.
Dining Services Director Matt Lugo said that Dining Services is "excited to partner with the university throughout this growth phase." Lugo added that his team is "committed to evaluating & improving existing programs while introducing new and exciting solutions to the Lander Community."
