Lander University officials have announced that Atlanta-based fast food chain Chick-Fil-A will be opening a location on Lander's campus.
While an official timeline is still being worked out, the university and Chick-Fil-A hope the campus store will be fully operational by the beginning of the 2020-21 academic year. The location will be a full-service restaurant, initially serving lunch and dinner only, before transitioning into serving breakfast.
"We are greatly looking forward to this expansion of our dining options," said Mathew Lugo, director of Dining Services at Lander. "This new location will also be a great opportunity for students who are looking for part-time employment."
This newest addition to Lander's campus dining options will be located on the ground floor of the Grier Student Center, in the space currently occupied by Twisted Taco and Which Wich. The plans call for Twisted Taco to be phased out when construction begins, while Which Wich will be relocated to the Learning Center, where it will share space with the university's P.O.D. (Provisions on Demand).
These are just the latest changes to Lander's dining line-up. In December, Lander announced it was partnering with the corporate offices of Starbucks to expand the Jackson Library store. This project is expected to be complete this summer and will roughly double the size of the store, adding another espresso machine, a second register, more storage and prep space, and customer seating.
As Lander's enrollment continues to climb, administrators say they remain committed to providing students with efficient dining services in addition to a variety of dining options to choose from. "We are excited to welcome Chick-Fil-A to our Lander community," said Vice President for Finance and Administration Dr. Stacie Bowie. "Lander University strives to deliver excellent service to our students, as well as access to the national brands they enjoy."
