Lander University has named Dr. Susan Fernandez to serve as chair of its Department of Teacher Education.
"Dr. Fernandez has many credentials that will serve her well in this role," said Dr. Scott Jones, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at Lander.
Fernandez earned her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Union Institute & University in Cincinnati, OH; her master's and bachelor's degrees in Education from Clemson University, and her associate degree from Anderson University.
With strong interests in literacy and educational administration, Fernandez also serves as the current president of the South Carolina International Reading Association. Previously, she served on committees for the Association of Teacher Educators and as the Conference Chair of the South Carolina Association of Teacher Educators. She recently served a three-year appointment by the South Carolina Board of Education on the South Carolina Professional Review Committee.
