Students of the Abbeville County School District will now have the opportunity to get a head start on their college education thanks to a newly formed partnership between Lander University and Abbeville County Schools.

Beginning in the spring of 2021, Abbeville County Schools will be joining Lander's Dual Enrollment Program, which allows qualifying high school students to enroll in courses at Lander University and earn high school and college credit simultaneously.

"As our region's public four-year institution, Lander University has so much to offer to high school juniors and seniors," said Shelby Dominick Reed, director of special cohort outreach and bridge programs at Lander. "The rigor and challenge that Lander's faculty provide in each course are an ideal fit for the high-achieving high school student who wants to ease into the college experience. We welcome Abbeville County School District students and will continually remind them, they are Lander students when they enter our environment and will reap the benefits of Lander resources."

"Abbeville County is extremely pleased that our juniors and seniors have the option of dual credit courses through Lander University," added Brandi Sears, director of instruction and accountability at Abbeville County Schools. "We appreciate Lander extending the opportunity to our students and providing support to them through the enrollment process. Lander University has a long-standing tradition of academic excellence, and we are proud to partner with them to help students achieve their educational and career goals."
