Donald Pettit, a 2006 Lander University graduate and a federal disaster recovery officer for the Interagency Coordination Division at FEMA, speaks virtually to Dr. Matthew Malone's Emergency Management class on Monday, Feb. 22, at Lander University. Pettit covered topics like a typical day at work when managing major disasters such as the COVID-19 pandemic, or mass power outages due to winter storms in Texas. He also shared advice on how to get a "foot-in-the-door" with the field of emergency management while still in college, and explained why their education at Lander would prepare them for their careers.
