Lander University is adding a Bachelor of Science in Data Science to its wide array of degree options beginning in the fall of 2021.
The field of data science is quickly evolving into one of the most promising and in-demand career paths for skilled professionals. Within the Data Science program at Lander, students will study capturing, maintaining, processing and analyzing data, and communicating results of such analysis. Thousands of jobs are readily available for data scientists in today's marketplace, from diverse industries, including insurance, finance, healthcare, biotechnology, IT, education, retail and sports.
Lander's Data Science program offers students the option to choose one of three emphases: Business Analytics, Computer Information Systems and Mathematics. Each emphasis provides courses for students to deepen their understanding in each subject area, while the core curriculum of the program covers the broad set of skills required of data scientists. Courses provide a unique blend of theory and hands-on experience, using the latest tools and technology that students will experience in the field.
The program has been approved by the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education (CHE), with approval pending from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
