Lander University hosted its annual Family Day on Saturday, Sept. 17. This year’s festivities were held on campus at the Dingle Ampitheatre and featured a concert from South Carolina’s own rising country music star, Cody Webb.
The celebration kicked off at noon and featured a variety of activities for families, as well as local food trucks for lunch. Students, their families and alumni enjoyed paint ‘n pour sessions, inflatables, face paintings, caricature artists and a variety of other activities throughout the afternoon. The University’s cheer and dance teams both put on performances prior to Cody Webb taking the ampitheatre stage.
Webb thanked Lander for inviting him back to campus. “Lander University was one of the first people to invite me to perform following the pandemic. I’m excited to be back in Greenwood,” he said before beginning the concert.
In addition to the activities around the ampitheatre, Bearcat Athletics had a busy slate of games for the day. The men’s and women’s soccer teams, as well as the women’s rugby team, all had home games throughout the afternoon for Bearcat families to enjoy.
“I’m really appreciative of Lander as a parent,” said Caroline Johnson. “It means a lot to us that they take the time to do something like this for the families and students.”
“We’re always looking for ways to show our appreciation to students and their families,” said Dr. Demario Watts, director of Student Life and Orientation Programs. “The University wouldn’t be what it is without them.”
