The Association of Collegiate Anglers released their first official rankings of the 2023-24 season, and Lander sits atop the poll for the first time in program history.
Lander University tops the rankings for the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year, presented by Abu Garcia, with a season total of 4,470 points. After the season's first two events, the Bearcats have built a 105-point lead over Emmanuel.
Lander University started the season with two Top 20 finishes at the MLF College Series event on Lake Champlain. Parker Lambert and Aaron Shumaker finished 9th, and Kaleb Brown and Cole Moulton took 19th. Those two top 20 finishes earned Lander a total of 1,240 points.
At the Bassmaster College Series Championship at Pickwick Lake, the Bearcats' two top teams earned 3,230 points. Kaleb Brown and Cole Moulton finished in 14th, and Cole Taylor and Clay Taylor claimed 27th.
"Drew Pridgen and Brandon Cobb are doing a great job building a program for long term success," athletic director Brian Reese said. "To get this type of recognition in such a short time is pretty amazing."
