Artist Gabrielle Torres discusses “Wilton Street Rhythm,” her collection of loom paintings, at a reception in Lander Art Gallery on Tuesday, August 22. Torres, whose early years were spent on Wilton Street, in Philadelphia, said that each of the works in the collection was inspired by a particular song by jazz musician Miles Davis. A 2012 graduate of Lander, Torres now teaches at Savannah College of Art and Design. The public is invited to see her work, on display through Sept. 22. Lander Art Gallery is open Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission is free.
