Class rings represent achievement and the pride a person has in the institution of their academic career. To recognize the importance of its future alumni, Lander University held its fourth Ring Ceremony and honored upperclassmen who have earned a minimum of 60 credit hours toward their college degrees.
More than 350 students, family and friends gathered for the event. Brittany Tims, Lander’s director of Alumni Affairs and Annual Fundraising, told ring recipients, “As a student, you will wear your ring with the seal facing your heart. This will serve as a reminder of the passion you have for Lander during your remaining time as a student.”
As graduates, “you will wear your ring with the seal facing the world, so that as you venture out you may show others the love you have for your alma mater,” she said. “Let this ring serve as a token of the pride and affection that you have for Lander.”
While the style of the Lander University Ring has changed slightly over the years, “the enthusiasm for the students who wear them has not,” Tims said. “As they opened their boxes and placed their rings on their hands during the ceremony, they all were beaming with pride.”
