Dr. Jennifer Yates has been named the dean of Lander University’s College of Science and Mathematics.
Yates, who had been serving as the interim dean of the college, assumed the role on July 1.
She is also a professor of neurobiology and serves as the director for the University’s Center for Faculty Excellence.
Yates holds a Ph.D. in neurobiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has 23 years of experience in higher education.
She came to Lander in 2021 from Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute at West Virginia University. Before that, she was the founding director of the David O. Robbins Neuroscience Program at Ohio Wesleyan University and the assistant director of faculty development for the Innovation in Learning Center at the University of South Alabama.
In his announcement, Lander Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs James Colbert said Yates is an effective advocate for her faculty, staff and students.
