Lander Job Fair Gives Students Opportunities on Campus

students a job fairLander University students looking for employment opportunities saw some of what’s available on Wednesday.

Lander’s Office of Career Services held an on-campus job fair for students to check out employment opportunities, and to help University departments find candidates to fill student positions.

“The student work-study program gives opportunities to students that they haven’t had before. It helps them build their resume and also gives them opportunity for engagement so they’re able to meet people and get connected,” said Courtney Carpenter, employment coordinator with Career Services.

On-campus jobs are important for retention and are also a good opportunity for people who may have never had a job before to help them build confidence and learn new skills, Carpenter said.

There are also on-campus jobs that allow student workers to hone existing skills such as photography and videography.

In addition to work-study positions, Carpenter was also working to find students to fill roles at several nonprofits in Greenwood.
