Lander University Singers and Old Main Singers to Perform

The community is invited to join the Lander University Singers and the Old Main Singers for a joint concert, titled “Around the World in 80 Minutes.” As the name suggests, the performance will feature musical selections from twelve other countries, including Austria, Brazil, Africa, Spain and more. The concert will take place Sunday, November 24, at 4:00 p.m. in the Abney Cultural Center Auditorium on Lander’s campus.

The University Singers and Old Main Singers are both under the direction of Keith Jameson, director of choral activities at Lander. Over a 30-year performing career, Jameson sang over 14 seasons with the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, opportunities and roles that opened to him after two summers in the Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Program and six seasons at New York City Opera.  Jameson also performed with groups including the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl, Phoenix Symphony, Berkshire Bach Society at Tanglewood Music Center, Seattle Opera, San Francisco Opera, Houston Grand Opera and Lyric Opera of Chicago.

Accompanying the University Singers and Old Main Singers will be Amy Blackwood, lecturer of music at Lander and director of Lander’s Chamber Orchestra.
