[00:03] Narrator: Big things are happening at Lander University. From new spaces and plans for future growth to a faculty member making an impact far beyond the classroom.

[00:22] Narrator: Lander is expanding its footprint with plans to acquire the nearby Genesis Education Center, a 21.9-acre property adjacent to campus. The site includes approximately 70,000 square feet of educational space, along with a gymnasium and athletic fields.

[00:39] Narrator: The acquisition would give Lander additional room to support academics, student life, athletics and continued growth.

[00:46] Narrator: That growth is also driving plans for more student housing. Lander is moving forward with a new residence hall near Centennial Hall that would add approximately 300 beds to campus.

[00:59] Narrator: The four-story facility is being designed as more than just a place to live, with plans for study areas, gathering spaces and dining options that create another hub for student life.

[01:10] Narrator: And Lander’s impact continues through its people.

[01:13] Narrator: Dr. Melissa Hayes, professor of biology, was recently honored with the Mary Frances Poole Alston Award for her dedication to students and the Greenwood community.

[01:22] Narrator: Through teaching, research and hands-on learning experiences, Hayes has helped students discover what science can look like beyond the classroom and inspired them to see new possibilities for their own futures.
