LANDER 2DAY Episode 6— TRANSCRIPT Approximate Duration: 2 minutes, 12 seconds Speaker: Narrator [00:00] NARRATOR: This week, Lander connects students with the community, celebrates a future Bearcat’s big moment, honors a legacy of giving and explores how the Constitution continues to shape modern law. This is Lander 2 Day. [00:14] [Lander 2Day intro] Lander 2Day is a mix of campus news and short stories in two minutes or less. [00:27] At the annual CommUniversity event, nearly 70 local businesses and organizations came to campus to connect with students. From volunteer opportunities to potential jobs, the event helps Bearcats build relationships in the community they may one day call home. [00:43] And one future Bearcat received a college acceptance she’ll never forget. Lander surprised North Augusta high school senior Abby Prescott by delivering the news in person — complete with the Bearcat mascot and a campus welcome party. Prescott was the first student accepted to Lander’s fall 2027 freshman class, marking a memorable milestone on her collegiate path. [01:05] Lander is also investing in generations of students through the generosity of alumna and trustee Linda Dolny-Lister. Her gift of more than $1 million will support the University’s endowment and Presidential Medallion Scholarship fund. In recognition of her philanthropy, the residence hall formerly known as New Hall will become Dolny Hall, honoring a legacy of giving that will help create opportunities for future Bearcats. [01:31] And on Constitution Day, Eighth Circuit Solicitor David Stumbo brought the nation’s founding document into the present, showing students how constitutional principles — including citizen protections and self-incrimination — continue to shape modern law. [01:45] [Music Outro] [01:48] [Lander 2Day Outro] Lander 2Day is a production of Lander’s Office of University Marketing and Communications.
