[00:25] Lander is helping students turn their degrees into career opportunities. Three recent career fairs connected Bearcats with potential employers, internship opportunities, and professional networks. Whether students are just beginning to explore career paths or preparing to graduate, those connections can help open doors to their next chapter. [00:46] History comes to life at the Jackson Library. From October 16 through the 29, Lander will host the American Revolution Experience, a traveling exhibit featuring interactive displays and firsthand accounts that explore the people and events behind our nation’s founding. [01:04] Lander's Dr. Dawn Hawkins, director of the Center for the Advancement of Reading and Literacy Instruction, has published a new resource designed to help future educators strengthen students’ reading and writing skills. The Foundations of Literacy: Connecting Word Recognition and Language for Stronger Readers and Writers, translates research into practical strategies for developing readers. [01:26] Finally, a Lander police officer helped bring a local celebrity home after an unexpected adventure. Lieutenant Jake Lucas of LUPD rescued Penny, an apricot poodle who wandered into the woods after chasing deer one evening. He took her to the Greenwood Humane Society, where she stayed safely overnight until her identity was confirmed, and she could be reunited with her grateful owner, local radio host, Anne Eller. Penny is now back in the studio with Anne — and presumably back to collecting treats.
