Living-Learning Communities are where academics and residence life converge. LLCs are communities of students that live together in the residence halls and have a shared interest. Select communities have corresponding courses that help to further the growth of participating students. Designed primarily for first-year students, an LLC is a great place to plug into a supportive network of students and distinguished faculty as soon as you arrive at Lander.
There is NO added cost to participate in the Living Learning Communities, only added benefits.
Some benefits of living in an LLC include:
We invite you to learn more about these living experiences at Lander.
The Call Me MiSTER (CMM) program at Lander University aims to diversify South Carolina’s K-8 classrooms. Students from backgrounds that are under-represented in the teaching profession can receive financial, educational, and social support to complete any of our programs that serve students in grades kindergarten through the eighth grade. CMM participants are required to serve in leadership roles throughout their time at Lander, as well as actively engage in Lander’s campus life.
Students who have been accepted into the CMM cohort are eligible to be part of our supportive learning community. Learn more about the Call Me MiSTER program and apply here.
A key part of being a MiSTER is the academic, educational, and social support provided not only by the program but also by the participants. MiSTERs live together to enhance the strong community they have developed through their participation in the program. As part of the CMM Living Learning Community, first-year students will be housed in groups with MiSTERS who are further along in their educational journey. You can expect to be part of a close-knit group that not only will have shared courses but will also have shared experiences volunteering in our community.
Members of the CMM LLC will live in Brookside.
