Resident Assistants

As an employee of the Department of Housing and Residence Life, Resident Assistants (RAs) contribute to the mission of Lander University through community building in the residence halls. RAs support Lander University and the Department of Housing and Residence Life by engaging students through personal contact, community events, and connecting them to campus resources. RAs emphasize academic engagement, interpersonal skills, wellness, and inclusiveness in their communities. Responsibilities encompass both student development, administrative, and operational functions. In order to perform effectively as a Resident Assistant, RAs agree and adhere to the duties, expectations, and requirements as outlined by the department.

These sessions cover everything you need to know, from the essential role RAs play in building vibrant, supportive communities to the perks of the position, including a housing grant,  leadership experience, and lasting friendships. You’ll hear about the skill development opportunities, like conflict resolution and event planning,  along with the qualities we seek in RAs—dedication, empathy, collaboration, and effective communication. Meet experienced RAs, get answers to your questions, and discover how you can make a lasting impact on our campus community.
