The mission of the Student Success Center is to support the overall goals of each Lander student and faculty by providing unlimited student services (included in tuition), reflecting current “best practices” in a welcoming environment.
The Student Wellness Center of Lander University is the point of initial contact for all students with disabilities. The Disabilities Coordinator notifies the faculty of the appropriate accommodations for both the classroom as well as for testing, assures that students receive the necessary physical accommodations based on their medical condition, and stores all documentation relevant to students' disabilities. All accommodations are implemented according to ADA regulations.
The Student Success Center provides required testing accommodations for students with disabilities based on the students’ accommodations provided by the Student Wellness Center.
Once accommodations have been approved, students must coordinate with their professors for each test in order to utilize their testing accommodations and test in the Student Success Center.
Students with disabilities must contact:
Anissa Lawrence, Interim Director of Accessibility and Testing Accommodations
Phone: 864-388-8308
E-mail: accessibilityservices@lander.edu
The Student Success Center provides academic advising to a variety of special population students. The SSC also works with all first-year students to clarify their educational goals and offer academic and social direction.
Students who are transferring from another college need to meet with our Transfer Specialist, Katherine Dorn, in order to create a customized plan to get the most out of your transfer credits. She also provides endless resources to make the transition to Lander easier.
If you find yourself struggling with skills such as time management, study skills, and note-taking, the Student Success Center provides Peer Academic Coaching to help develop and fine-tune these skill sets. Our academic coaches will help you create a game plan for achieving your goals by using your strengths to help you succeed. Schedule an appointment to meet with an Academic Coach through MyWCOnline.
To meet our Academic Coaches and learn more about the program, see our Peer-led Support Directory.
Unlimited tutoring is offered for more than 80 courses in more than 20 subject areas. Our tutors are Lander students who have succeeded in the specific class they tutor, are recommended by faculty members, and are interviewed thoroughly by our Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction Coordinator. You can view availability and schedule your tutoring appointment through MyWCOnline.
Lander’s Supplemental Instruction program, Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS), is offered for statistically high DFW and high enrollment courses. Structured to encourage group collaboration, this program provides a weekly review session for the courses involved. The PASS Leader, who doubles as a tutor, works with the faculty to determine which topics should be covered more in-depth and then creates review materials such as review games, practice tests, etc., for each session.

Please note these tests are not administered in the Student Success Center.
