The Office of International Programs understands that not every student can go to another country to study. That is why our office has a commitment to bring cultures from around the world to campus, through various activities. During the school year, we aim to highlight a different country and host presenters who are native to that part of the world - providing students with an insider's look at cultures, customs and everyday ways-of-life around the world.
If you are traveling to our campus from another country, you will also have plenty of opportunities to experience American culture, both on and off campus.
Campus and Community
With nearly 3,000 students, Lander's size allows the opportunity to build closer relationships with faculty and peers from across disciplines. The campus offers many locations for fun and fellowship including multiple dining locations, as well as a coffee shop, gymnasium and student game room. As a student, you can watch plays, enjoy live music and view recent movies through the university's many Fine Arts and Student Activities programs. Sports fans can catch a soccer, baseball, softball or tennis game at the Jeff May Complex, or watch a basketball or volleyball game in the university's 2,500-seat Finis Horne Arena.
Off Campus
Students can enjoy the many shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities available in Lander's home city of Greenwood, S.C. Students looking for more than the small-town atmosphere can easily travel to larger metropolitan areas, such as Greenville, S.C., Charleston, S.C., Atlanta, Ga., Charlotte, N.C., and Washington, D.C. Students can also take a short drive to visit the beautiful, sandy beaches of eastern South Carolina and take in the amazing vistas of the Appalachian Mountains to the north.
