In history students may earn secondary teacher certification in social studies. The program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
Students should meet the social studies education standards of the National Council for Social Studies. Students graduating from Lander University with recommendation for teacher certification complete student teaching, coursework and testing requirements for recommendation for certification in South Carolina consistent with the College of Education's conceptual framework. This framework provides direction for programs, courses, teaching and teacher candidate assessment. The framework is built on the conceptual model of the "Professional Educator" as one who demonstrates these Learner Outcomes.
