Business Administration, Accounting Emphasis

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting emphasis, provides students with knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and tax preparation that they will be able to apply in a public accounting, business, or nonprofit setting.

All business students complete 43 semester credit hours of core business courses in preparation for their selected emphasis area. The junior and senior years focus on business studies in one of four emphasis areas offered by the college.

Lander College of Business graduates will:

  • have the knowledge needed for success in organizations, ventures, and one’s career
  • have the skill to write and speak effectively
  • have an understanding and appreciation of ethics and the societal impacts of business
  • be able to use relevant methods and technologies to analyze and solve problems
  • have the readiness to succeed in one’s career and positively impact society

 

Transfer Pathway Guides

Lander University has developed articulation agreements with the South Carolina State Technical College system to improve students’ transition from a technical college to Lander University.

Below is the Suggested Course Sequence to help students progress smoothly through the technical college of their choice and Lander University to earn both an Associate Degree and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting (LU). All courses listed are required for the degrees, except those where a range of courses is available to choose from, or where courses are listed as electives. The course sequence shown is an example and may be modified in some cases. Students should work closely with their advisor to ensure the chosen courses keep them on track for a timely graduation.

  • In order to enroll in the upper-level Business courses (300-level and above), Business majors must meet the following requirements:
    • Complete at least 45 semester hours of college credit (including transfer courses);and
    • Earn a grade of "C" or better in ACCT 201, MATH 211, ECON 101 and WRIT 275.
  • Coursework must include at least 30 hours earned in 300 or above level courses, of which 12 hours must be in the major.
